Alchemy Announces Acquisition of Ease/Freedom Learning Group to Scale Career-Connected and Experiential Learning for Higher Education

[Stamford, CT] April 14, 2026 – Alchemy, a leader in tech-enabled learning design, today announced the acquisition of Ease Learning/Freedom Learning Group (EFLG). This strategic combination creates an unmatched industry powerhouse designed to help higher education institutions and employers quickly and affordably deliver relevant, career-connected learning experiences at scale.

As demographic, technological, and societal shifts cause industry to move faster than ever, higher education institutions are facing unprecedented pressure to keep pace and close widening national workforce gaps. Alchemy addresses this challenge by providing the definitive infrastructure that expands institutional capacity.

Combining People and Technology.  At its core, Alchemy believes in the power of combining people and technology. By uniting Alchemy’s team and proprietary software, Curie, with EFLG’s robust network of instructional experts, the combined company cuts design time in half while increasing output. This network is proudly built on a shared commitment to utilizing elite military-associated and domestic teaching talent. Together, this infrastructure empowers educators to build standards-compliant, contemporary learning without the drudgery of traditional design.

“Putting these two companies together creates greater scalability and incredible opportunities for the institutions we serve,” said Carrie O’Donnell, Founder of Alchemy. “By uniting our Curie technology and deep expertise in learning design with EFLG’s exceptional instructional talent, we are creating the definitive infrastructure that empowers educators to build career-connected learning at scale.”

Expanding Experiential Learning.  Concurrent with the acquisition, Alchemy announced the integration of its clinical placement and product support business, ISG, directly into the core Alchemy brand. Building on ISG’s proven model, Alchemy is vastly expanding its capabilities to serve as a tech-enabled internship intermediary. This unified platform will help institutions and employers seamlessly deliver meaningful, high-quality, paid internship experiences to all students, directly tying academic portfolios to real-world career outcomes.

“Industry is moving faster than ever, and institutions need to move quickly and at scale to remain relevant,” said Matt Gurney, Chief Product and Strategy Officer of Alchemy. “I am excited that we are combining two people-centered companies built on integrity, ingenuity, and kindness. When we add our product development capabilities, we help employers deploy meaningful internships that build their talent pipeline, and support educators to close the workforce gap.”
